Work starts on new Police Divisional HQ in east Manchester |

Work starts today on the new £35m Divisional Headquarters for Greater Manchester Police (GMP) at Central Park in Newton Heath in east Manchester, just one and a half miles from Manchester city centre. It will be built next to GMP’s 240,000 sq ft Force Headquarters, which is currently under construction.
Greater Manchester’s chief constable Peter Fahy joined colleagues Councillor Paul Murphy, Chairman of the Greater Manchester Police Authority, Caroline Ball, Chief Superintendent for the North Division, Nigel Allsop from ASK:Goodman, Eddie Smith from New East Manchester, Mike Hollows from the Northwest Regional Development Agency and Richard Jones from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) to celebrate the start of work on site.
Chief Constable Peter Fahy said: “This ceremony is a landmark moment in the programme of work to improve the services we are able to provide across north Manchester. This investment is will ensure we continue to meet the policing demands of the area and provide the best possible service to local people. The modern facilities will ensure we are better able to meet the needs of local communities.”
Chief Superintendent for the North Manchester Division, Caroline Ball, said: “Today marks the beginning of the future for the North Manchester Division with new facilities for officers and staff right in the heart of the communities we serve. With the continued presence of Neighbourhood Policing across all areas of the division, we will continue to ensure that north Manchester is a safe place to live in, work in and enjoy.” |

Second Greater Manchester Police Authority Div HQ deal for Central Park |

Following ratification by the Greater Manchester Police Authority (GMPA), the deal to create a new £35m Divisional Headquarters for Greater Manchester Police at Ask:Goodman’s Central Park has been completed, with the building expected to open in early autumn 2011.
The transaction follows last year’s agreement with the GMPA to locate Greater Manchester Police’s 240,000 sq ft Force Headquarters at the Park.
The 125,273 sq ft Divisional Headquarters, designed by Aedas, will be a high quality, contemporary office building, which is welcoming and attractive to the general public but still clearly identifies with its core function as a police HQ. The development will be designed to accord with the latest thinking in sustainability with features including; Ground Source Heating and Cooling, Photovoltaic Cells, Combined Heat and Power and Rainwater Harvesting. |

Greater Manchester Police Authority approves move to Central Park |

Ask:Goodman, developers of Central Park - the 1.4m sq ft urban business park in east Manchester – is delighted with the approval made at the Police Authority Meeting to locate Greater Manchester Police’s Force Head Quarters at the Park, in what is one of the UK’s largest property deals so far this year.
The £64m 240,000 sq ft Force HQ, designed by Aedas, will be a highly sophisticated office building, with a BREEAM rating aspiring to reach Excellent, supporting modern day policing requirements and ensuring a smarter, more effective work force. Coloured glass and stone will be key features of the six-storey building, which will be visible from Piccadilly and lit blue at night. Situated on plot 16, the 6- acre site will also include a two-level decked car park.
Planning approval was given by Manchester City Council in April 2009 and work will begin on site this month, with completion scheduled for March 2011. |

Madison Place Welcomes NHS Trust to Central Park |

Ask:Goodman has welcomed new tenant Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to Madison Place at Central Park.
